Lower Dens

Baltimore space-wavers Lower Dens’ sophomore LP Nootropics isn’t out until next month, but we’ve already posted the early tracks “Brains” and “Propagation,” and it’s already my daughter’s favorite album of all time. (She seriously refuses to listen to anything else while going to bed. My iTunes tells me that I’ve heard it literally 84 times now, and I’m not sure that even the band members have heard these songs that many times.) Now we’ve got a stream of another of the album’s songs, the dreamy guitar-swirl “Lamb.” Listen below.

Nootropics is out 5/1 on Ribbon Music; check out our Progress Report interview with the band.

  1. It’s weird what kids will pick up on.

I was working on a mix CD last summer, and I played it in the car a few times in the process. My then 20 month old daughter really connected with the Eleanor Friedberger song “Roosevelt Island”, and for about two weeks, she would demand “and it goes and it goes speakers!” every time we got in the car. She would come close to tears if she had to wait her turn to hear it.

It just makes me smile to think of Eleanor Friedberger sitting at the mixing board putting the final touches on her record, not knowing that a one year old in North Carolina was about to become one of her most rabid fans.

    Nootropics is great, too!

  2. Just love this album.
