Bruce Springsteen

Today, we got to hear “Toast To Freedom,” one of the last songs Levon Helm recorded. And now here’s a video of Bruce Springsteen at last night’s Newark show, singing one of the songs Helm made famous, just like Bon Iver and the Black Keys have done in recent weeks. Springsteen started off last night’s encore by covering “The Weight,” and we’ve got the fan-made video below.

That is some good crowd singalong right there.

  1. One thing I think about while watching this is who are the icons that will still be around in 30 years like this for the 20 and 30 somethings of today? Shame that what we have are a shade of what our parents had in the past. And, if anyone says Eddie Vedder to my question it will make me frownyface…

  2. Remember Bruce’s SXSW keynote, where he pointed out the songs “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” had inspired? I’m willing to bet he this was the inspiration for “My City Of Ruins”. Maybe it’s just the organ and the horn section at the end of the chorus that make me think of that song.

  3. it’s funny because the band’s cover of atlantic city is one of my FAVORITE covers. cool to see bruce do this for levon.
