VÅR - "In Your Arms (Final Fantasy)"

Young Danes Elias Ronnenfelt (Iceage) and Loke Rahbek make up War, a group that creates dark, electronics-heavy tracks like “Somme, Maggio.” And now, like some other bands have done recentlytrend piece! — they’re changing their name. They’re going with VÅR, which translated means “spring.” Their new song, “In Your Arms (Final Fantasy),” is a hazy, longing thing that takes the lead from a bleating synth riff. Download it and watch the accompanying video below.

The pronounced vocals are giving their sound some depth, and the visual aspect makes it more than just background music, so I’m glad to hear they’re marching forward with the project.

Also, thanks for the “h/t.” That other tastemaker site (granted they had this on their radar since they debuted the video) pretty much ripped my e-mail tip’s subject (yes, Stereogum, I was unfaithful and sent this in their way as well, but only because the last time I submitted a War / VÅR-related piece, Tom said he didn’t like Iceage and wasn’t going to cover it) word for word in their post title. Like, c’mon — This on top of the three short short sentences they wrote on the new AnCo single has me wondering how people get paid for work like that. If I were news director, heads would be rolling if you were caught spewing out press releases or news tips verbatim.

  2. Oh, wow. This is terrible. And by terrible, I mean utter shite.

  3. It’s beautifully disgusting like love.
