Full Flex Express

The best live act I saw at SXSW is touring Canada by train, and he’s taking Diplo and Grimes with him! By now, the fact that I love Skrillex has passed into some sort of Stereogum-infamy history, but seriously, Canadians, if you get a chance, watch this guy melt the faces of vast numbers of teenagers. The hilariously titled Full Flex Express tour, on which he’ll cross Canada with a supporting cast that also includes Pretty Lights, KOAN Sound, and Tokimonsta, seems like a pretty good opportunity. The idea of this tour is inspired by 1970′s Express Tour, on which Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, and the Band covered a similar itinerary. We’ve got the dates for the tour below.

07/13 – Toronto, ON @ Fort York Buy Tickets
07/14 – Ottawa, ON @ Ottawa Blues Fest (without Grimes)
07/15 – Montreal, QC @ Parc Jean Drapeau
07/18 – Winnipeg, MB @ Shaw Park Buy Tickets
07/20 – Edmonton, AB @ Kinsmen Park
07/22 – Vancouver @ PNE Coliseum

I guess this makes Grimes our Janis Joplin, which seems pretty OK to me.

I’m trying to decide which train wreck joke I want to use, but there are so many.

  2. I don’t know anything about the Canadian rail system, but wouldn’t it make more sense to start in Montreal, then Ottawa, then Toronto?

Is it OK, Tom Breihan? Are you sure? :-/

Tom’s usually on point with a lot of things, but throw Skrillex into the occasion and the boy just ain’t all there in the head.

  4. Mad props to whomever did this artwalk.

  5. Grimes is hot even in cartoon form.

  6. Oh there will be shenanigans…

  7. I wish more people would do this in the States. Ya know, sell tickets and make it a party like Mumford & Sons and those other bands did.
