Kindness & Ramon

Kindness is in town for his first-ever NYC show this week at Le Poisson Rouge, and right on time, this terrific video. They talk about indie music “teaching the kids to dance again,” but here Kindness’s Adam Bainbridge does one better: teaching the kids to make dance music. Again. The clip, which is delightful and charming, starts with a deadpan soliloquy deconstructing the nature of pop before evolving into a trailer for the best buddy film never to be made: Adam teaching Ramon, a child about ten, about drum machines and keyboards and the inner workings of “House,” the sumptuous, tender-hearted slow-house nugget from Kindness’s terrific debut LP World, You Need A Change Of Mind. Everything about the “House” rollout — from cover art to this clip to the jam itself, typifies why Kindness is a frontrunner for this year’s Best New Artist Gummy. He’s doing it right. Watch:

World, You Need A Change Of Mind is out via Terrible/Casablanca. Kindness is in town for his first-ever NYC show this week at Le Poisson Rouge. Go if you are around.
