Yeasayer - Henrietta

Brooklyn avant-pop purveyors Yeasayer recently announced a string of summer tour dates via their website, not-so-subtly hinting that new songs would be debuted. Today we get an early listen to one of them, “Henrietta,” which We All Want Someone To Shout For says was recently shipped via CD to fans on the band’s mailing list.   1. Unexpectedly great. It’s almost sounds like more than one song – which happens pretty quickly considering it’s length. Really dig that middle ambient section. It reminds me of something on Aphex Twin’s SAW II.

  3. The break in the middle reminds me of the one of the many incredible changes in ‘Wait for Summer.’ Hoping they get back to those very cool hooks from earlier albums on this go round.

  5. Love Yeasayer (Seen them live twice), but this track sees them move towards more R&B rather than their earlier earthier Folktronic.

  6. This sounds fucking awesome but their later songs tended to get kinda boring after a while. Their first cd’s a different story though.

  7. Wow. I checked out a couple live versions from last year and it was a COMPLETELY different song back then. This version is definitely an improvement.
