Elvis Perkins In Dearland/Bowerbirds @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 12/4/09

As the year comes closer to end with endless gray skies, Elvis Perkins In Dearland’s updated “Slow Doomsday” feels like an apropos soundtrack. Perkins & Co. were in New York City this weekend for a pair of headlining shows: Friday at Bowery Ballroom and Saturday at Music Hall Of Williamsburg. Jessica Amaya caught them Friday with hardworking Raleigh crew Bowerbirds opening. (If you recall, the Birds had their own little apocalypse.) Bowerbirds are out in support of Upper Air, which Dead Oceans released earlier this year. They didn’t accompany Perkins to MHOW — they performed a subway stop further at Union Pool with Sharon Van Etten — but everyone was together when Jessica photographed them on Delancey St. Take a look at her pics and Elvis Perkins’ setlist. (They brought along the more raucous “Doomsday,” by the by…)
