Matthew Dear - Beams

On 2010′s Black City, the longtime dancefloor adventurer Matthew Dear worked up a slickly dark and unique form of techno-pop. He’ll follow that album up later this summer with another one called Beams. And on first single “Her Fantasy,” he goes even deeper into the slinky underworld of Black City, creating a six-minute synthpop anthem that’s equal parts glossy and murky. Listen to it below.

Beams is out 7/28 on Ghostly.

  3. Love it. ‘Black City’ was one of my favorites from 2010. This song has me excited for the album.

  4. I hope that is the album cover.

    This song is fantastic.

  5. This is great! Love the decadently dark eroticism of his music. Every time any of his Black City tracks played in a party one could feel things heating up (or maybe it was just me, or pure coincidence, I don’t know).
