I was really happy to see them do “Fire’s Highway” for the show. This album is a must-love (it’s the consensus!) and “The House That Heaven Built” is my current front-runner for the year’s best song — but they took the energy down a notch at Studio 6B there, and so I’m glad they went with the former track for the world to witness on nationwide TV.
I agree, the superspeed high hats weren’t there, which is one of my favorite elements of the song, Walkmen-esque.
I like the ‘Born In The USA’ video-Springsteen-pulsating neck vein-singing here.
Am I the only one who gets chills when they play “House that Heaven Built”?
you’re not alone
Sometimes they sound like goo goo dolls before they went all AOR. ok you can downvote me now.
