If you’re not into everything Odd Blood — aka the album that finds Yeasayer finding Ween (really, listen to “The Children” again and then flashback to God Ween Satan) — no worries: Los Angeles Frenchkiss signees Local Natives offer up dusky, shimmering “old-school” Yeasayer-ish harmonies in “Sun Hands.” Not to be confused with “Sunrise.” You think I’m a Naysayer? Check back after the 2:57 mark. Still, it is a pleasant song — especially the spry guitar lines, busy drums, and skeletal build — that’s bound go over well with sundry folks.

Gorilla Manor is out 2/16 via Frenchkiss. It’s already out in the UK. The “Sunhands” single is out 1/5. Listen more deeply at MySpace.

  1. Sooooo I really like this band, and I don’t really feel bad about it. Even though I sometimes get the feeling like they’ll almost definitely catch on with teenage girls?

absolutely amazing band and even more amazing and impressive live. this track has been out forever though, why is it just being put up here?

  3. Yeah I agree with you zell, they do catch on with teenage girls (me being one). Although they’re still a great band, if you really like them their fans shouldn’t put you off.
