Today, L Magazine kicks off its third annual Northside Festival. The ostensible point is to bring live music to Williamsburg, but since that is like bringing bar fights to the Jersey shore, it is really just an excuse to party. So, don’t be difficult. Just come party. We’re bringing Twin Sister, Physical Therapy, Guards, Caged Animals, Phonetag, and the just-added Blonds to Cameo on N. 6th St. on Saturday night, and it should be a pretty great thing. You should get tickets, unless you have a Northside badge (in which case you’re in for free), or unless you want to win a pair right now. To be eligible, drop an email to tips at stereogum dot com with your favorite song by one of our showcase’s artists, and we’ll reply to one winner at random. Stay tuned to your email. We’ll contact you by Friday at 6PM EST.
Besides Saturday night, hit up the Northside schedule to consider your options. It’s all anchored by a Friday evening in McCarren Park featuring Jens Lekman, of Montreal, Beach Fossils, and the Thermals. Pretty summery. Pretty, pretty summery.
Here’s Saturday night’s timetable:
12AM – Physical Therapy
11PM – Twin Sister
10PM – Guards
9PM – Caged Animals
8PM – Blonds
7PM – Phonetag
Doors are at 6:30PM. The first 40 people to walk in get a free Heineken Light, which is a good deal for the calorie conscious. Join us.
