Ben Gibbard

It’s a long, lazy summer Friday afternoon, and Ben Gibbard must be just as bored and just as ready for the weekend to begin as the rest of us. So, for no reason at all, he’s taken to Twitter to post a cover of Stars’ “Set Yourself On Fire” that he recorded four years ago for that band’s covers-and-remixes album Do You Trust Your Friends?. Hear Gibbard’s unfinished track below.

Now let’s all go outside.

  1. Ah sweet, this chick I met recently told me she likes both Death Cab and Stars. Thanks for the conversation starter, Benny boy!

  2. Boy they sure like to cover the hell out of each other.

  3. Ahh yes, the music scene in Montreal during the early-mid 2000′s was truly something special : Stars, The Stills, The Unicorns, Sam Roberts, Patrick Watson, and of course, Arcade Fire.

  4. Well, now I’m glad I never heard this before.

  5. Nice cover. This was the only Stars full-length album I really liked. Still great to this day though.

  6. Two of my favorite bands/singers covering each other. Hell yeah.
