Last year, two thirds of the great Sleater-Kinney came back swinging when Wild Flag dropped their self-titled debut. But if Sleater-Kinney had a leader, it was Corin Tucker, whose unhinged howl was quite possibly the single greatest voice that the ’90s indie universe gave us. Tucker and her Corin Tucker Band released their own debut album 1,000 Years in 2010, but the relatively quiet and restrained affair didn’t attempt to recapture the incisive fury that once made Tucker so great. And so it’s great to read, in a press release that Tucker plans to her riot grrrl sonic roots on the forthcoming Corin Tucker Band album Kill My Blues.

Tucker’s band also includes former members of Unwound, Golden Bears, and Stephen Malkmus’s Jicks. And in that press release, she says, “After the past two years playing together, traveling and making music, I think we’re more comfortable. We collaborated on every song on this record and no one was shy about their ideas. I think you can hear that sense of joy and abandon in the songs.”

Tucker will also play a few rare shows in the Eastern half of the U.S. in the months ahead. We’ve got those dates and the album’s tracklist below.
