Picking up where Thom Yorke left off (“truly disgusted” in the wake of COP15) Ed O’Brien logged in to Dead Air Space earlier today to lighten the mood…

The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last Summer .. I am so genuinely excited about what we’re doing, but for obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more.. anyway we all love surprises don’t we? 10 years ago we were all collectively (that’s the band) in the land of Kid A .. and although hugely proud of that record, it wasn’t a fun place to be .. What’s reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band, which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game….keep it moving.

That’s a relief. 2010 was looking bleak (sarcasm).

And inspired by the listomia that’s cemented Kid A as album of the decade, Ed signed off with a rundown of ten great films to watch over Christmas. You can read his complete “rant” here (scroll dowwwn).

In conclusion: the best album of the ’10s (probably!) is coming just in time for the CO2 apocalypse. These kids know what I’m talkin’ about.

  5. I am quite enticed by Ed’s “we all love surprises, don’t we?” statement.

Oh yes, Ed. We do love surprises. I dunno how you’ll you’ll top the “Hey, new record called In Rainbows out in 10 days” surprise, but I’ve got my fingers crossed for something cool….

Oh, so that’s how novelty glasses makers are dealing with loss of two circles in the digits at the center of the year. Wonder what they’ll do with 2011…

  7. 2010, here we come! I can’t wait for Adult Z (the new album)!!!

  8. The only thing that could make Stereogum post on the weekend. LOL. JK, ya’ll. New Radiohead album FTW.

  9. 70 most anticipated albums of 2010. The change should go without saying… who agrees?

  10. Uh oh. Radiohead feeling good about themselves and enjoying life when they enter the studio to record might finally be their Achilies heal.

I just just see fans turning away right now in disgust as they hear lines like,
“Her Hitler hairdo, it’s actually pretty cool.” and
“Turns out the Ice-age isn’t coming, no ice-age coming, yeah”
    or the song;
“How to disapear complete so you can read a good book for a while before coming back to your family in time for dinner”

    • ‘Please could you stop the noise my young son is trying to get some rest and we FINALLY got him to sleep and Britain’s Next Top Model is on!’
‘Yesterday I woke up to the bright sun, Yesterday I woke up to the bright sun’
‘Everyone. Everyone around here. Everyone is so great It’s excellent!’

  11. Well this made my day.

So can we expect a new album in 2010, or do you think it won’t be until 2011?

    • Probably 2010, the way that they record is ussually a pretty long process but as soon as all of its mastered, they wanna get that shit out fast. I mean they did it last time, gave like a weeks notice for releasing ” In Rainbows” if i’m correct.

Still, new radiohead makes any year a good year, so go 2010!

  15. Ah the eighth coming of Thom. Praise be to him.

  16. New songs.
    New album.
    New tour.
    Thanks Santa!

I’m really excited for the new album. But I really hope they don’t follow the direction of their summer mp3, or Thom’s recent 12″. Both of those had me kinda dissappointed.

On the other hand, if there’s one thing we can depend on Radiohead to do, its to not do the same thing twice.

    • Even radiohead at their worst is still really good. The best we can expect is another album that will take over this decade, check it out:

      1990′s – OK Computer
      2000′s- KID A
      2010′s- ???

This could be a trend guys, and mean we are in for some seriously fucking good music in the next year.
