Watch Daniel Rossen & Robin Pecknold Join Van Dyke Parks In London

Over the weekend, London’s Barbican hosted a career retrospective for the influential composer Van Dyke Parks, a figure who is best known for his work on the Beach Boys’ SMiLE as well as more contemporary releases like Joanna Newsom’s Ys. Joining Parks as backing vocalists were none other than admirers like Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold. Head below to watch a few videos from the performance.

  1. This is awesome. Performing with Parks is a true testament to both Pecknold and Rossen’s talent as musicians and performers. His vocal arrangements can be tricky and heavily modal, but they both held their own. I really wish there was some better/professional footage, though. Also, Robin was nearly unrecognizable with his hair cut. Double takes were required.
