Angel Haze - "New York"

Despite her age — she’s 20 — the precocious rapper Angel Haze has been waiting a little while for her moment, a moment that just might come with the release of July’s Reservation. Today she dropped the stuttering, steely flow showcase “New York,” a track that serves as a great platform for Haze’s cool focus. Download it below.

Reservation is out 7/17 on True Panther/Noizy Cricket/Biz 3.

  1. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love this track. Ms. Haze has got some serious potential, and this flow is SICK. But why is no one pointing out the heavy Gil Scott-Heron sample? http://youtu.be/WiuorrXsngM

  2. I really enjoy the minimalism of this song. It’s not overblown like most Nicki Minaj songs are these days (with the exception of “Beez In the Trap”). I feel like it’s an exciting time for female rappers. I’d love to hear more stuff like this.
