For those who can’t attract the sort of woman that can set their sexual organ on fire: ever think that’s ’cause your bandanas don’t cost $100? Welcome to the KoL fashion line, men. Dreams = just came true. (Thanks for the tip, Jeff)

  1. This is ridiculous. I bet some people will still buy it though.

  2. No need to say ” Sell Out” here, this is lame on almost every level. There’s gotta be some kinda rule out their about this kinda shit

  3. lesmorganray  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

I bet everyone will buy this.

  4. A kings of leon fashion line? are we talking about the guys that used to have hair twice the size as there heads, massive beards and couldnt sing without muffling there words? no thank you.

  5. Frojo  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

Well from the looks of it they wont’ be around much longer anyway. Maybe just trying to milk the KoL name.

  6. This makes me kinda sad. It’s been a downhill slide since their last album came out. But Aha Shake Heartbreak is one of my favorite albums of all time

  7. $1200 leather jacket = one month’s rent

Well, at least I’ll be fashionable……. homeless, but still looking hip in my brand new two-sizes-too-tight Diesel knockoff leather jacket. Praise the LORD!

  8. Tweeds  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

… these items are hilariously overpriced.

  9. Greg  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

Are you fucking kidding me? They should at least offer some flimsy justification like giving part of the proceeds to charity. But no, they really are just charging $100 for a normal, red bandanna.

  10. This is not a standalone clothing line, this is a collaboration Kings of Leon did with Surface to Air, like Justice did a few years ago. Surface to Air usually charges high prices for their clothing, so Kings of Leon did not create their own t-shirt and decide to sell it for $100+. That being said, the quality doesn’t seem that great, and the designs look like stuff you could find at H&M for much less.

  11. dane  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

but guys… said this band “saved rock n’ roll?” can’t be wrong?

aha shake heartbreak one of your favorite albums? didn’t that album have “four kicks” on it? that song fucking sucks. i dont think i like a song from this bloated band.

    • You would only know that by reading Rolling Stone. Not that I’m a fan of Kings of Leon at all, but just sayin’.

  12. Clothing line? Why for fucks sake? Why do they have to do a Liam Gallagher and have a clothing line? I lose respect for the Kings when I hear stuff like this – they are known for their music so it should be about the music.

  13. Jeff  |   Posted on Jan 7th, 2010 0

FUCK these guys. I saw them open for The Coral years ago and the look 100% white trash, had long hair, mustaches and were all in belly shirts. So now, they release the shittiest record of their career, blow up, and start a fucking fashion line? The prices for this shit are shocking. Especially for such boring stuff. I might spend $1200 on a leather jacket is there was a jet pack attached to it. Like I said, FUCK these guys.

  14. best headline ever.
this is where I stop listening to them.

  15. …and the tag still says, “Made in China”.

  16. While I agree this is especially ridiculous given that these dudes used to go around looking like extras from The Beverly Hillbillies, I can’t say it’s exactly surprising for a band who makes boring music that sells really well to lend their name to a horrendously overpriced clothing line.

That being said, the $180 flannel shirts made me lolirl. Anyone who pays $180 for a flannel shirt that has Kings of Leon written on the tag deserves to look that stupid.

  17. Now this is how you “use somebody.”

  18. I’m glad i never liked this band, makes me feel bad for the people who do.

  19. *Barfs*

dear jesus lord christ, this is the end.

+ price-inflated-clothing-that’s-designed-to-resemble-hard-working-class-Americans (should) = “KoL” being sent to prison camps.

    sorry. but this is disgusting.

    Hipsters = Haters

I wonder what you guys would say if Radiohead started a clothing line,

    • dork  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

look dude you don’t get it. Radiohead would NEVER do something like this. It goes completely against the ethos that they have established over the last two decades. But if they did, I’m pretty sure it would suck and everyone would say fuck that.

      • I wouldn’t mind wearing Thom’s red pants though…

      • ZackB  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

Dude, Radiohead DOES have a clothing line. W.A.S.T.E.? It doesn’t suck that bad.

        • anon  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

W.A.S.T.E. is full of “band” tshirts, not this KoL kind of shit.

It’s for Radiohead fans who want to show that they like Radiohead. They sell them at concerts, etc.
          Some of them say “R A D I O H E A D” ffs. And they’re like $20. It’s not bad at all.

    • Does Radiohead really need to be brought into nearly every single discussion on Stereogum involving something that clearly sucks ass?

Vast majority of commenters: This sucks ass!

Super-Hipster who *ironically* claims to hate all other hipsters and the things they like, thereby clearly making them infinitely cooler than the peons who like Radiohead: IF RADIOHEAD DID IT YOU WOULD LIKE IT LULZ

Ummm… no. I love Radiohead, but if they started replacing their recycled-plastic-and-fair-trade-cotton band shirts with $100 bandannas, I would be the first to say, “Hey, this sucks ass!” And I think most people with a brain in their head would do the same.

  22. Wow, This band used to be so good in every way but they are just getting worse and worse.

  23. jjazznola  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

You too can have that “just left the mall” look! Lame band, lame idea, plenty of suckers out there will probably go for it.

  24. Gerardine  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

If I am not mistaken, their prices are in pounds, yes?

…with the price of their product I could probably use the money towards tuition or a car!

  25. matt  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

whoa, radio head has a clothing lin named W.A.S.T.E.?? way to rip off Thomas Pynchon.

    • anon  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

It’s a reference to Thomas Pynchon, stupid.

And Radiohead is one word. I thought people would know this by now.

  26. KoL does not mean Kool.
    Jesus doesn’t love KoL. :)

  27. KoL does not mean Kool.
    Jesus doesn’t love KoL. :)

  28. Maybe this would buy some redemption and explain a bit:

Kings of Leon’s Jared: ‘If I wasn’t in the band, I wouldn’t like us’
As the Followill family clash over royalties, Jared admits that it’s only his contributions which make being in the band bearable

  29. Those cloths better give me damn super powers if they are puting $000 at the end of everyprice tag, fucking $100 for a bandana, unheard of

  30. I really like the Whigs and the Features, and for some reason, it secretly eats at me that they’re both closely associated with this band.

  31. K Accident they do give you super powers. Don’t you know the bandanna gives you the power to swig whiskey and cuss like a Followill brothers

  32. Woah, no way! The Jonas Brothers have a new line of clothes?!

  33. OK, so a friend pointed out to me that the pendant to this necklace is actually a COKE SPOON.

Speechless. +1 to all of us for not catching that, at least.

    • MF McNutt  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

Really! ? no one noticed that the pendant was a coke spoon? Coke spoon pendants were kind of fashionable early/mid 2000′s. My favorite design was the gold coke spoon molded from a McDonald’s coffee stirrer. Classy.

  34. iName  |   Posted on Jan 8th, 2010 0

i LOVE these guys, it’s so sad to watch them turn into what they have become… i cant say im surprised though, they were always very arrogant.

  35. what?  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

didn’t kim gordon put out a leather jacket not too long ago? Don’t remember people complaining at that.

    • MF McNutt  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

If by “leather jacket” you mean an entire line of fashion under the name X-Girl that Kim has been involved with since 1994, you are correct. Kim is not just a musician, but also a visual artist too. She went to an arts and design college and her mom was a seamstress. Kim doing fashion is not much of a stretch.

The irony of KOL doing a fashion line is that they’ve always attempted to make music that was fashionable and have come off as being inauthentic for doing so. It seems perversely wrong to compare KOL to the likes Kim or any member of Sonic Youth.

      • two cents  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

haven’t they always been considered fashion icons in the UK?

        • MF McNutt  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

I think the Brits taste in music is a little suspect. Maybe it’s the endless hype cycle of NME. Maybe KOL represents Americana and Rock to them.

I don’t take issue with KOL having a fashion line as I never thought of them as being a particularly credible band. I think Justice’s collaboration with Surface to Air made a little more sense as both Gaspard and Xavier were designers before a being a music act, the French know something about fashion and the electronic/dance crowd is more likely to embrace the fashion as opposed to the “indie” rock crowd that listens to KOL. With that said I think there are some really nice looking pieces in the KOL collection. I hope the charity is getting a large cut from those exorbitant prices.

  36. i am without shoes  |   Posted on Jan 9th, 2010 0

I really like some of King of Leon’s music, but every day I feel bad for doing so.

  37. Cheese and Rice, this is crap. The shirts even look too tight when there’s no one wearing them. What the fuck??!

  38. Newt  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2010 0

    some grammar notes:

there – “look! over there! it’s a dooshster in kings of leon signature plaid! I hope he didn’t pay retail…….”
their – “i never liked that band; and their clothing line looks like a fart.”
    they’re – “they’re from the south, right?”

    grammar police.

  39. I remember when selling out was merely having your song in a minivan commercial. Oh how this decade brings new lows…

    • i got told i sold out when i used a guitar tuner…i think the phrase get used to often

plus if i could make money putting my face on a T then i would

  40. Drew  |   Posted on Jan 12th, 2010 0

WHOOOO CARES! Do people really have nothing better to worry about in this world than weather or not KOL has a fashion line, and what it means if they do? WTF?? Really???

  41. ha  |   Posted on Jan 12th, 2010 0

What is a Leon and how come they can be kings of it?

  42. confused  |   Posted on Jan 12th, 2010 0

I will never get why Major Lable bands who have ALWAYS been on majors are now called Indie

  43. Didn't They Die from being hated so much  |   Posted on Jan 13th, 2010 0

  44. lane  |   Posted on Jan 13th, 2010 0

Call me a tool but I’d wear a bunch of this stuff, its not like I could ever afford it and I dont care whether orn ot its endorsed by kol but it all looks pretty cool.

Maybe we can all cross our fingers and hope for a hinder clothing line in the near future though.

  45. Clothing line huh?! How about a KOL daily vitamin. Get your daily dose of KOL! $$$

  46. i know its been said but im glad i never thought much of these guys. if their music was any good this might be disappointing

  47. Noble  |   Posted on Jan 14th, 2010 0

  48. gottabeanony  |   Posted on Jan 16th, 2010 0

Justice’s collaboration with surface to air seemed much better than this pair up we have here. Xavier and Gaspard from justice were DESIGNERS before they began making music. Plus they are more original anyways. KOL kinda just stole the leather jacket idea.

  49. seriously  |   Posted on Jan 16th, 2010 0

STOLE the leather jacket idea?? haha good luck trying to pinpoint who they STOLE that from. everyone is doing a collaboration these days and there is much worse stuff out their besides this. at least surface to air is a reputable fashion line.
