Nas - "Loco-Motive"

Nas’s new album Life Is Good is imminent, and all the tracks we’ve heard — “Nasty,” “The Don,” “Daughters,” “Accident Murderers” — find the man doing something to recapture the inventive, technically rigorous ferocity he had when he was younger. “Loco-Motive,” his newest track, works along the same lines. It’s a prime slice of honking NY rap, and it features Large Professor, the legendary Queens beatmaker who originally mentored Nas and produced three tracks on his debut Illmatic, on hypeman duties. The beat actually comes from another veteran: No I.D., still best-known for producing Common’s Resurrection. Anyway, the song is good, and you can listen below.

Life Is Good is out 7/17 on Def Jam.
