A couple months ago we posed the two tracks from Best Coast’s Black Iris single. One quick peek at the BC discography tells you Bethany Cosentino and cohort Bobb Bruno are all about 7″’s, so it was only a matter of time before we passed along news of another. This time a slow, smeary song that’s been here/there since the summer pops up on one side of a split with the similarly coasted project Jeans Wilder.

(via gvsb)

The Jeans Wilder/Best Coast split’s out 1/18 via Atelier Ciseaux in an edition of 350. Look for a 7″ on PPM in February. There are a bunch of February dates with the Vivian Girls. Which should surprise no one:

02/04 – San Diego, CA @ Casbah
02/05 – Costa Mesa, CA @ Detroit Bar
02/06 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Smell
02/08 – Santa Cruz, CA @ Crepe Place
02/09 – San Francisco, CA @ Bottom Of The Hill
02/11 – Portland, OR @ Holocene
02/12 – Vancouver, BC @ Biltmore
02/13 – Seattle, WA @ High Dive

She’s great. Simply great. But there’s two rocker chicks we really need to hear a debut album from: 1. Best Coast 2. Frankie Rose! I love Vivian Girls, but when I heard Thee Only One by Frankie Rose, I just about peed my pants. Plus, not to mention frankie rose is sexy as hell!!! lol

im pretty sure they are recording a full length album, so they might no longer just be all about 7”s. <3 them though

Best Coast IS in the process of recording their full-length debut. Also, Best Coast is the shit. Bethany Cosentino writes some fucking catchy, good songs.

  9. Best Coast is absolutely amazing. They’re album is going to be so great.
I have to second the Frankie Rose love. She was the best thing about Vivian Girls.
And I should also mention Dum Dum Girls (who are also insanely talented) and Pearl Harbor in a round up 2009 female fronted lo-fi acts who deserve to get more attention in 2010.

  10. I’m not a big fan of the lo-fi trend but she’s pretty good! Her songs are so catchy and fun.
