Dunes - Songs On Conceptual Art

L.A.’s Dunes released their weird and gorgeous debut album, Noctiluca, earlier this year via Post Present Medium (run by No Age’s Dean Spunt), and they’re back now with “Dirt,” from the high-concept comp Songs On Conceptual Art. It’s a gauzy, spectral wash of post-punky drums and ringing guitars that sparkle like sunlight reflecting on the sea, while Stephanie Chan’s narcotic vocals float away like laughter in the distance. Delightful. The band is touring, too — check out the song and tour dates here:

  1. Nocticula is a pretty great beach weather album if anyone hasn’t checked it out yet, as is this song. It’s like sinking your feet in the sand as a couple of sea witches serenade you.
