Here’s the first shot from Happy Birthday’s excellent self-titled debut, out this March on Sub Pop. The Vermont-based trio’s fronted by Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff) and we’re told only has five shows under their belt, a number sure to triple after SXSW and completely surprising given the fully formed, T.Rex-ed thread tying together the album. “Girls FM” is the set’s opening track, a hooky, feel-good slab of scuffed up rock that sounds like it was minted in a ’70s-era garage. Not the best track on the record by a long shot, but that’s a statement on how good the rest of the record is, not on how much you’ll enjoy this first taste, which is worth your three minutes:

I want to be cynical, because I was a feathers fan, but this kind of rules.
