Too many shows grind to a complete halt whenever anybody has some kind of technical glitch, so let’s take a quick moment of inspiration from the Cure frontman Robert Smith. Smiths’ band played in the Spanish city of Bilbao last night, but a keyboard issue delayed the show’s start time. So Smith filled the time himself, emerging with an acoustic guitar and playing solo versions of three well-selected Cure songs: “Three Imaginary Boys,” “Fire In Cairo,” and “Boys Don’t Cry.” Smith: “Don’t applaud too loudly or you’ll give me ideas.” Check out high-quality video below.

The Cure followed that up with a marathon 35-song set, wrapping up with a full-band version of “Boys Don’t Cry,” so Smith’s endurance up there is just crazy impressive.
