  1. So: is this definitely Pavement’s first US reunion show, or will they slip in some Cali shows beforehand?

Won’t get fooled again. My Central Park tickets are mocking me.

Holy shit this is an incredible lineup! I thought Deerhunter went on hiatus?

  3. JoeyT  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

Muse as a festival headliner is pretty weak. Unless we’re in the UK.

  4. Cate  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

I’m surprised to see Julian Casablancas solo. I really enjoyed his concert in DC, but I sort of thought once his East Coast tour was over, he’d focus solely on The Strokes.

Thom, you crazy little guy. I love you and your weird punctuation.

  6. Once again, Coachella impresses with a stellar, cutting-edge lineup. It’ll probably be the best of the year, on paper at least. The unfortunate truth is that this “festival” features 45 min sets, no outside booze (even in the campgrounds!), no going back and forth between your camp and the concert grounds (one entry per long, hot, expensive day)… I’ll most definitely be holding out for a (hopefully) similar lineup at Bonnaroo.

I have no idea what the format of a Major Lazer show, but it’s guaranteed to be bonkers.

In’s and Out’s are permitted this year.

Booze is now permitted in camping area.

    • Major Lazer  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

“– COACHELLA will allow, for the first time, in-and-out privileges for all attendees”

In my opinion, one major advantage Coachella has over the Roo (which is still a great festival) is the actual concert grounds. The place is a fucking paradise and you don’t have to walk miles to get to each stage. Major Lazor is going to rule all.

    Thom & Jay-Z:)))) So happy

  8. ryan  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

I think that the Primavera festival in Barcelona is a much better line-up.

    • They share much of the undercard together, but Coachella has a lot more varied and heavy-hitting acts. Primavera looks like a boring Lite-chella.

  9. Friday > Sunday > Saturday > My life.

    Sunny Day Real Estate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. any word on whether Thom Yorke??? is Thom solo or that band with Flea?

  12. If this is the official poster then what the heck are those questions marks after Thom Yorke for?

    • Paul  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

      Who’s on first?

‘Thom Yorke????’ is the name of Thom’s solo-band-thing.

“…His reps tell the Music Mix that he intends to perform with the same backing band he assembled for a handful of Los Angeles dates last fall (pictured) ? Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, producer Nigel Godrich, and seasoned session hands Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. Yorke never got around to naming the new band back then, resulting in some mysterious marquee displays around L.A., and now he?s decided to stick with the same question marks to indicate those guys? presence.”

  13. chris  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

Fever Ray playing a festival? Does not compute.

    • Actually, she played a couple of festival in Europe last summer. I hope they put her late in a tent so she can do a full laser show. That’d be awesome…. for the people who are going.

  14. Am I the only person bothered by the placement of Girls and Beach House’s respective names on the Saturday portion of the poster? Surely they’re more popular right now than all the bands listed after Camera Obscura. (Does anyone honestly give a shit about Tokyo Police Club and RX Bandits?) You could even make a case (I would) that both have more fans right now than The Ravonettes and Gossip. “Music For Men” didn’t show up on anyone’s Best-of lists that I saw, afterall.

    • yes, people honestly give a shit about RxBandits.check them out live and it may change your mind.not all of us suck Thom Yorke’s penis.

      • Clearly, I did not take into account the Warped Tour constituency that seems to be permeating this site as of late. Nevertheless, Girls and Beach House have a much higher Q score than Rx Bandits, so they should be ahead of them. I look forward to making this same complaint when New Found Glory are given a later set time than No Age and High Places at Lollapalooza.

        • Ya know,it IS possible to dig both the RxBandits and Beach House.I’m living proof.Crazyyy, right??Enjoy being another Pitchfork clone.

          • I enjoy not listening to shitty music, yes. If you happen to attend Coachella this year (I won’t be going), please capture Rx Bandits’ set for YouTube (so I can have my mind changed about them), making sure to interview your fellow fans afterwards. Be sure to ask them what other acts they’re there to see (“Coheed and Cambria, brah!!!”). I’m curious how many other people in the world like both Rx Bandits and Beach House. (I’m sure Rob Sheffield probably does, since he likes everything that sucks [he wrote an enthusiastic review for Nickelback's last album], and a few things that are great [I think he was the one from RS who praised the Chavez compilation a few years ago].)

          • i know nothing about Rx Bandits other than that I saw them at Bonarroo a couple years ago and they tore it up – a great, fun show. Since you seem to know even less about them than myself you should should your gaping trap.

I’m a big fan of Girls and Beach House, but at a festival I’d rather go a little nuts (see Rx Bandits, Major Lazer, Tiesto, etc.) than sit soothed by reverbery

    • Biff Beta  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

Give us your vote. Your english is good.

    • I have heard that Girls’ live show sucks, which, as an owner of Album, I can kind of understand. Perhaps that’s why they have such a low billing.

  15. tommy  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

fucking incredible lineup. im actually considering heading down to indio this year.

but gorillaz as a sunday headliner? REALLY? REALLY?!?

  16. Saturday looks like the most fun, yet promises to also be the biggest hassle: the crowds there for David Guetta and Tiesto should make the Polo Fields feel like Wet Republic on crack. Girls, cover your drinks….

  17. First off let me just say that this year’s lineup is a weak. The most exciting part of this year’s lineup is obviously Thom Yorke ???, Pavement (duh!), Gorillaz and LCD Soundsystem. There’s just not as many BIG headliners to make me wanna drop everything and just GO! I was honestly hoping to see a “Soundgarden surprise reunion” for Coachella this time around but was sadly let down…

Ok so… What are the odds Thom Yorke will drop new music before he gets to play Coachella this year? I’m sure he’ll want to debut new live-stuff right? Although a follow-up to the Eraser is long overdue, I don’t see him putting out a new LP but I can totally see him putting out a new EP with several new songs.

Gee I wonder what ATP & Bonnaroo have in store for this year.

  18. Sunday’s lineup alone is pretty amazing. I’m almost (emphasis on almost) glad there’s no way I’ll be able to go just because I think I would spontaneously combust if I had to choose between seeing Pavement and Thom Yorke.

  19. fernando x fuentes  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

i called it months ago: DEVO and Faith No More.
two of the best bands ever.

but the one i don’t get is JAY Z?

for the people that don’t think the gorillaz are worthy, just imagine seeing fucking holograms jump around on stage and shit with the guys from De La Soul joining in.

really, all that’s missing for me to shit my pants and go camp out now are maybe eels, melvins, or pink floyd reuniting.

    • Seriously, anyone who thinks that the Gorillaz set will be anything less than amazing needs to check out some videos of their live performances. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if their set ends up being the highlight of the entire weekend, especially if they’re planning to go all out like they have for the small handful of shows they’ve done in the past.

  20. I second the notion that this setlist isn’t all that mind blowing. The only day I would be willing to dish out money for is Sunday (Thom Yorke and Pavement). Jay-Z…ehh. Muse…ehh. Gorrilaz…ehh. In summary, the headliners aren’t all that “BIG” Jay-Z is an exception I guess but mostly because his music isn’t too great of a lure for me. Saturday seems to be a raver’s wet dream.

  21. Jeff  |   Posted on Jan 19th, 2010 0

Good lineup of bands, but needs more quality electronic groups. YAY (!!!!!!) for Orbital, but Deadmau5? David Guetta? Kaskade? Tiesto AGAIN?!? Barf! Its like a pure ibiza sexxyhouse dance 2010 compilation.

Can we get some Basement Jaxx or Booka Shade or Royksopp or Chem Bros or maybe even DAFT PUNK (again!) up in here?

    • Orbital can supply the power that those bands do. One of the great live acts in the last twenty years.

      • Jeff  |   Posted on Jan 21st, 2010 0

I totally agree, Orbital is phenomenal live… I can’t wait to see them in a festival setting. The one time I’ve seen them was in a mid-size club venue, which was awesome, but I doubt it was even comparable to their glastonbury performances.

I just wish Coachella would be more on point with their electronic line-up. They book a great selection of mainstream/indie and new/classic bands, and on the flipside book the cheeeeesiest mainstream dance dj crap. Putting Tiesto or Benny Benassi on the bill is the equivalent of putting Creed or Nickelback as a headlining band, its just kind of vomitizing. Although I do have to say that I’m super excited for Aeroplane and FlyLo. And LCD and Hot Chip, of course, but they’re more in the band category.

Basically, I just want Daft Punk to play again… hahaha. This lineup is pretty awesome overall tho. Gorillaz live will be the shit.

  22. HUMAN  |   Posted on Jan 20th, 2010 0

there are some good electronic acts on saturday. FLYING LOTUS. BASSNECTAR. PRETTY LIGHTS. that will be fun

  23. When I saw those question marks I thought…”So Thom Yorke MIGHT be playing? Are they not sure?”

  24. jp  |   Posted on Jan 20th, 2010 0

    Jónsi added to Sunday!!!

  25. of Montreal? They’re about to head out on a warm-up tour, and seem to be festival addicts of the highest order, something’s up with that missing.

  26. Greybeard  |   Posted on Jan 20th, 2010 0

I find it very hard to hate on a line-up that includes Pavement, Yeasayer, Thom Yorke, Hot Chip, Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors, MGMT, Jay-Z, Vampire Weekend, LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, Passion Pit, Fever Ray, Grizzly Bear, Girls, Beach House, Major Laze, Phoenix, and the Gorillaz. Definitely worth the 6 hour drive. Stop hating (looking at you, New Yorkers).

  27. anonymouse  |   Posted on Jan 20th, 2010 0

Pavement and Thom Yorke won’t be playing at the same time; don’t be stupid. The main stage will be Thom Yorke->Pavement->Gorillaz. The scary part is when will Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sly, and Jonso play in relation to those three.

    • If your comment was directed at me, I assumed that the Pavement and Thom Yorke sets would overlap based on how things were done at All Points West (which is run by the same people who do Coachella), where the two acts listed right beneath each night’s headliner usually did overlap by a significant degree. Being a perpetually broke resident of the East Coast, I’ve never been to Coachella before but I figured it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think it would be similar to APW.
Also, unless you have some sort of insider information, “stupid” is a bit unnecessary. You don’t know Coachella’s schedule any more than I do, so save the insults for a situation that warrants it.

    Wow, Friday sucks.

  29. Q: Are we not men??????

  30. ajturner  |   Posted on Jan 20th, 2010 0

If Jay-Z were to go up and rap all of Reasonable Doubt, I’d be excited. Unfortunately, he’s going to probably do a bunch from his more recent albums. Which blow dick. This line-up is pretty incredible though in my opinion. I wish I lived out west or more south instead of in Northern Michigan where I have to go to Lolla every year, which is usually a subpar lineup compared to this and Bonnaroo. Hoping they can pick up some better headliners for this year.

  31. Thom York???? What a pretenious F***. Who does he think he is? Officially declare yourself and stop thinking you are above music as a whole you arse. Plus your solo material isn’t that great.

    Orbital. That is top notch

  32. Radio Zero  |   Posted on Jan 21st, 2010 0

Surprised no one has mentioned that….freaking Sly and the Family Stone are playing!! This just got interesting!!

    KLF is gonna rock you!

  34. wait, my eyes are bad. i can’t read those small fonts. is pavement playing or not? what about yo la tengo? i’m real skeptical of “super bands” is them crooked vultures any good.

here’s a link to some tunes i’m working on

  35. Badfish219  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

APW like Lolla closes down at 10 or 11 pm bc it is in the City and there is no camping, this is why bands are forced into the overlap. Although Lolla did give us Radiohead alone on Friday night the year I went, rage and Wilco were co headliners Sat and NIN and Kanye on Sun. Any past Coachella ppl know if the headliners all play the main stage or overlap? I know at Roo when I went, the main stage opened at 4 one day and was Kings of Leon, Damian Marley, Ben Harper, The Roots, and the Police in a row

  36. Justin Timberwolf  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

I am absolutely itching to see Major Lazer play a show like this — I have an urn full of heavy drugs waiting to be taken out to the polo fields for that one. However, I have to say that this lineup really pales in comparison to Sasquatch. I live in San Diego and obviously would have a much easier time getting to Coachella, yet I find myself hoping to find a way to get to the Gorge in May rather than Indio in April. Probably can’t afford to do both. Plus, JJ is playing with Delorean at the Echoplex in LA the Saturday of Coachella. That’s some shit that I really really want to see.

  37. a.  |   Posted on Jan 24th, 2010 0

give me a break, THE MAINE. Why you advertising the jonas brothers on this site?

  38. The only reason Im not going is because RUSH isnt headlining. This is bullsheet in my face.

  40. Carolyn Scott  |   Posted on Feb 1st, 2010 0

Please get Adam Lambert to perform at Coachella Music Festival…then I will attend

  41. I’m SO excited for this. I went to this industry only music event called “Michele Clark’s Sunset Sessions” in February, and it’s amazing how many bands that are playing at this years Coachella have played at this event. I’m really excited to see Thom Yorke and OneEskimO. It was so interesting seeing them in intimate settings at Sunset Sessions, It’s gonna be crazy seeing them in 100 degree weather in front of thousands of people.

  42. Only nine days left…Booze or no booze allowed, Coachella promises to be legendary, although extraordinarily expensive thus far. I swear, when Thom Yorke/ Grizzly Bear/ Dead Weather come onto the stage, I will have a seizure. My brain still can not wrap around it.

  43. spencer  |   Posted on Jan 23rd, 2010 0
