Now that Girls are no more, we probably won’t hear any new songs from them anytime soon. But at least we can sometimes hear new-to-us versions of old songs. True Panther founder Dean Bein recently posted an early acoustic version of “Forgiveness,” a song from Girls’ instant-classic 2011 album Father, Son, Holy Ghost, that the band performed as part of a WNYU session around the time they released their first single “Hellhole Ratrace.” It’s a shambling, casual, semi-improvised thing, but it lets us hear a great song in its pupal stages. Listen below.
Bein posted the song alongside a really nice piece on True Panther’s website, thanking the band for existing. Read it here.
