We’ve been telling you about Sub Pop’s 20th Anniversary and attendant celebration party for a while now. This past weekend SP20 up and happened, and modern Sub Poppers like Iron & Wine, Constantines, and Fleet Foxes graced the stage along with more historical acts like the Vaselines, Seaweed and the Fluid (and Mudhoney playing old songs). Maybe the biggest news of the weekend was Green River, together for the first time in two decades. They were all there, Pearl Jam/Mother Love Bone’s Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, Mudhoney’s Mark Arm and Steve Turner, Mother Love Bone/Love Battery’s Bruce Fairweather, and drummer Alex Shumway on one stage, like the future (i.e. grunge, Seattle’s mainstream crossover, etc.) never took place. Billboard says they were great. We weren’t there, but we do have video to back up the claim. We also have video of Mudhoney, the Fluid, and Fleet Foxes, among others, to back up whatever claims you may or may not want to make about them.

I went to this show mostly to see the Vaselines. I wasn’t disappointed.

The bands playing at Marymoor Park wasn’t the only thing going on for Sub Pop that weekend either. Les Thugs played for free at Neumos while across downtown at The Moore, David Cross, Eugene Mirman, Patton Oswalt, and Kirsten Schaal did stand-up sets all hosted by the label last Friday (as seen at the poster included in this post). Saturday evening also had a Sub Pop hosted event at The Showbox featuring Skullbot, Tad Doyle’s new band Brothers of The Sonic Cloth, and The Gutter Twins. I definitely had to pick up earplugs just to hear Tad perform again with his band–a setlist that consisted of 3 songs each clocking in at more than 10 minutes.
No Age rocked it…however, i dont think the crowd there got it…and i would much rather see them in a basement…Mudhoney killed it…only thing i dug about Green River was the dead boys cover…
also tonight Wolf Parade/Foals at Neumo’s.

I was there this week and I can’t understand the hype that has been given to No Age. THEY BLOW LIVE……This is the second time I’s seen them land they are just not good, If there is something that I am not getting could someone please explain it?

Beachwood Sparks: I watched them play the ‘Rock Band’ game. That was great. Also, they had a big circle hug/cheer before their set. Awesome.
