The Killers - "Runaways" Video

A couple of weeks ago, the Killers smashed the universe upside the head with “Runaways,” their new and refreshingly gigantic single, a ridiculous song that gets better every time I hear it. It’s the sound of a band figuring out everything that anyone ever liked them for in the first place. And now we get the widescreen-scope video for the song, which keeps things relatively simple. It shows the band bashing away under a mythic American desert sky and on a ledge overlooking their Las Vegas hometown. Warren Fu directs and does a nice job making the Killers look like the biggest band in the world. Watch it below.

The Killers’ new album Battle Born is out Island/Vertigo. Here’s the cover:

  1. alright, you’re right… That song keeps getting better with every listen. Epic.

  2. Fun song. Terrible music video.

  3. That horse is in a world of trouble

  4. I’m no fan of the Bon Jovi-revival genre, but this is sort of acceptable.

  5. Hmmm, It’s so…what’s the word…Not subtle. Not the type of song that requires more than one listening for the hooks, they beat ya over the head with it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

  6. They lost me at Day & Age but this one is pretty good.

  7. Now that I’ve seen this video, I actually like the song a lot more than I originally did. Its very clear to me that The Killers ARE trying (and succeeding) to be a Springsteen-esque truly-great American rock band. And they aren’t trying to hide it at all. The leather jacket, this whole video’s aesthetic, Brandon Flowers’ fist pump at the second chorus…I kind of love it. There’s something about stadium-sized rock anthems and if you can pull it off, then why the hell not?

  8. Ronnie Vanucci, the drummer, is totally that drunk uncle that shows up to family reunions and generally creeps everyone out.

  9. well that was some heavily kitsh video. Song is not so bad though

  10. if this video came out on mtv in the 80′s it would’ve been the best thing ever.

  11. I’ll always want Brandon Flowers’ hair and wardrobe stylist.

  12. When I was young I had a thing for brandon flowers

  13. this is uber dece. it’s the way under cover of darkness should have looked and felt.
pumped for this album – pantaloon jazzed up to 11.

  14. Fuck yeah! I’ve been waiting for Asia to do another reunion tour.

  15. “It’s a beautiful day, don’t let it get away” Yeah I think this song will catch on not sure about the Edge’s new hair do though!

  16. It’s like Springsteen having sex with Duran Duran, and that’s why I’ll always love these guys!
