At LA’s Music Box Theatre this Sunday, with proceeds going to the Oxfam Haiti relief fund. Phil writes, “We’re trying to raise as much money as possible, so tickets will be sold by auction at this site from 8pm tonight until 11am Saturday (PST): We’re in the middle of recording at the moment, so you’ll be catching us on the fly…. but if you’re up for it, then we are too.”

  1. My train of thoughts upon reading this:

One: Aww, that’s wonderful that they’re doing a Haiti benefit!
    Two: OMFG THEY’RE RECORDING YES
Three: Damn, I wish I was in LA.
    Four: ….
    Five: OMFG THEY’RE RECORDING!

    ….I’m a horrible person.

    • How did I know you were going to be the first person who would post on this? Joking.

It is going to a good cause. I kind of wish the Haitian finiancial plight would of been noticed before the diaster, but that is society.

I saw the minimum bid is up to $225. A person can look at it two ways. One is that is too much money. The second is it is a good cause and I’m still saving money because Radiohead’s new albums are free of charge

you’re a bit of confused…they’re not free of charge.

        • Pretty much since Kid A, many haven’t paid a dime for a Radiohead album. Since the Napster fallout, Radiohead offered a major album release free of charge if the person chose to.

      • Haha, it’s cool. Being called a Radiohead fan with a bit too much time on my hands is hardly the worst accusation that’s even been aimed at me.

In all seriousness though, I agree with you for the most part, but I’m perfectly fine with the ticket prices. It’s for an excellent cause, and it’s in LA so people will surely pay for them. (Plus I think it’s fair to say that Radiohead’s usual ticket prices are reasonable enough for a band of their fame/caliber.) I’m curious to see how expensive they’ll get – this is one show where I’d actually love to see the ticket prices increase by a ridiculous amount.

    • hahaha ya, any news about radiohead makes people like that. Its pretty awesome that alot of artist are on board with the Haiti funding though. Really wish i can fucking go but…….work.

Why do they pick LA and not NY? Bullshtein!

  3. imkoreansowhat  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

it’s $225 right now. I wonder how high it can go.

Will they play…new songs at the benefit? Goodness gracious.
This makes me glad to not be living in LA. You guys must be so stressed out with all this…
Anyway, it’s all for a good cause.

    AND YAY THEY’RE RECORDING.

  5. It’s a wonderfully clever, fair, transparent, and efficient way to capture all they can for a great cause. Well done!

  6. Only 8 comments so far in 3 and-a-half hours, c’mon you slackers its RADIOHEAD. This thread needs to hit 100 at least by noon cuz after all, hipsters DO sleep in late.

Seriously, you all need to stop with the orgasmic responses, get a brown paper bag to blow in and CALM THE HELL DOWN. They are the type that can do this and much props to them but the cause is bigger than the band, so of course ticket prices are gonna be as much as front row at a U2 show, even w/o that 360 b/s. It’s like an auction, the highest bid wins. In this case, seats to a pre-recorded performance on a jumbotron screen.

With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if this somehow gets hacked into and leaked before the show or hacked and broadcasted on the web during the show. And I can’t lie, I’m gonna be nowhere near LA on Sunday so I’ll be on the lookout with probably all of you as well cuz we’re all gonna be curious as to how this will turn out.

    • To reply to myself, the “you’ll be catching us on the fly” quote means they’re flying into LA and playing live, aren’t they? But what their carbon foot….. oh nevermind. it for a good cause and its Radiohead.

      • nah  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

i think that they meant they’ll be doing it without any preparation — which would be amazing to see (i bet it’ll be a show to remember, with new stuff potentially). they’re already in LA as nigel is based here and they’re producing stuff here and were just seen in Silverlake last week or something at a show.

basically LA > NY. not that anyone disagrees

        • yeah, you're definitely wrong  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

woah…LA>NY?! maybe for tanning, that’s about it.

        • Paul  |   Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 0

I’d say the majority of the US would disagree with that statement.

          • Yeah, not by a long shot is LA better than NY.

Though they probably picked LA because they might’ve been in LA with Nigel at the time and also since they have so many celebrity fans, maybe they figured LA would be a good place to maximize their donations

  7. OH SHIT, I think I’m going to put in a bid. This is probably my one and only chance to see rh in a small venue.

  8. now accepting donations so I can donate to the Radiohead benefit show on Sunday…

Someone better tape this and distribute it.

  10. I Just keep getting pissed that i can’t go because now that i read all the post till now, it really is a great possiblity that people will be able to hear some of radiohead’s newest songs. Jealousy sucks

I just got tickets! This is going to be awesome.

  13. Just got my confirmation e-mail I’m going too! I’ll be paying a little over a month’s rent for two tickets to see them. I’m either clinically insane or incredibly lucky. I’d say both.

Oh great. One shitty overrated band playing for a lost cause country that will never amount to anything no matter how much money we send over there. Get real people.

    • Issac  |   Posted on Jan 23rd, 2010 0

Dear god, people like you make me lose faith in humanity. Those people need our help. YOU are one shitty human being for having no heart.

    • inflammatory statements? LET ME SHOW YOU THEM  |   Posted on Jan 23rd, 2010 0

      Worst. Troll. Ever.

  15. Rob Lowe  |   Posted on Jan 23rd, 2010 0

go ahead. send your money to Haiti. Wyclef Jean needs a new house. So does his manager. That’s where your money is going. Open your eyes and read the real news. Radiohead + haiti donations = a liberal warm fuzzy feeling. if money solved third world countries’ problems, there would be no third world countries. The US hasn’t even rebuilt one CITY, New Orleans, and we think we are going to rebuild a WHOLE COUNTRY. jesus christ.

    • wow dude, your a dick. Good intentions are better than no intentions. What have you done ever to help anyone? Its pretty easy too see from your point of view when your sitting in a nice computer chair while someone over there is pissing in the same water that they drink in. I’m a realist too but i’m hopeful that not everyone in the world is an asshole. And as we speak i have friends and family that are in the Military picking body’s out of the caved in buildings.

      Go fuck yourself
