The Master Soundtrack

There Will Be Blood would have been a seriously disquieting movie even if Rogers & Hammerstein had done the soundtrack, but Radiohead “guitarist” Jonny Greenwood’s insanity-inducing score amped up the disturbing to 11. Greenwood has teamed with Paul Thomas Anderson again for the director’s forthcoming The Master, a film officially not about Scientology or L. Ron Hubbard, the trailers for which portend something transfixing and transcendent. The first bit of music from the movie, Greenwood’s “Application 45 Version 1,” has the same horrifying string squeals that made There Will Be Blood so delightfully uncomfortable. Can’t wait for this one. Check it out.
