Sigur Rós have scrapped the sessions they put to tape for LP6 so the band can all make babies, all except Jónsi who has his reasons for not making babies. This leaves the singer free to promote his forthcoming releases, an EP out in March and full-length the following month, both via XL. Composer Nico Muhly lends a hand with orchestral arrangements on this new material, which we previewed with “Boy Lilikoi” and “Go Do.” Longtime Sigur Rós video directors Arni & Kinski helm Jónsi’s solo music video debut, for the springing, symphonic flutter of “Go Do,” featuring Jón in beautiful Icelandic settings rocking an outfit you don’t own. And birds.

The Go Do EP is out 3/22 and the Go LP is out 4/6, both via XL. These North American tour dates feature stage creations by 59 Productions, which we’re promised will create a “dazzling stage atmosphere.” Don’t doubt it.

  1. I was totally going to wear that same outfit, but now I’m going to have to put it back and get something else. Looks like it’s jeans and a t-shirt again for me.

  2. I guess they don’t want us to see it any more.

  3. Due to Iceland’s widely publicized shortage of cats they had to go with the “crazy bird lady” concept.

Gay men can still make babies. It has been known to happen, Stereogum.

  5. Sorry, I love Sigur Ros but Jonsi’s “Dances With Wolves”/”Mad Max” look is a little sad. I think he might have spent to much time on the alter ego lately and less on the music.

    whoa… do i like this?

  7. So glad he choose the Mum drummer and Nico. There sound is so prominent in these songs. It’s almost more of a new trio than a solo album.

  8. Almost….it is as if Kevin Barnes’ wardrobe got frightening. Almost.

Adam Ant + Haysi Fantayzee (look it up) + of course, Bjork Gudmundsdottir. Oh yeah, and alleged hetero Kevin Barnes’s wardrobe is way gayer.
