With “The Motion Makes Me Last” and “Leaves Eclipse The Light,” Portland’s resident ambient master Matthew Cooper has given two fine, refined previews from the first LP to feature his voice, Similes. Director Matt McCormick handles visualizing the spacious piano and buzzing drone of “The Motion” here with an extended single shot of Eluvium’s hometown skyline. “Creation is a pathogen” relates here to urban development — buildings and bridges, made to bend in the wind, finding an unlikely meeting point between the worlds of of Eno and Ani. (Also, the first blog post on record to reference Eno and Ani.)

Similes is out 2/23 via Temporary Residence.
