Danger Mouse and James Mercer hit-up The Road for “The High Road” video. Now they’ve actually taken Broken Bells to the streets: The guys performed their debut show Friday 2/19 at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. Speaking of bootlegs, someone videotaped the entire thing, including a cover of “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea,” the first of a two-song encore. The motivation? Note Mercer’s post-song quip. That, and it’s a great song still worth getting emo about.

They also covered “Crimson & Clover.” You can dig into the rest of the set at Foundtrack’s YouTube Channel. And, remember this?

People still care about James Mercer? Oh, cool…nevermind. He’s with Danger Mouse. Wait…people still care about Danger Mouse?
Yes and yes. Quality musicianship doesn’t go out of style.
People still say “People still care about ********”? Oh, cool…. nevermind. You’re just a douche bag.
So I like carnivals as much as they next person but I think this merry-go-round made me kind of sick. On another note…if you check out the other videos on Foundtrack’s youtube site…well they’re kinda awesome. Really digging the sound. And the quality videos don’t hurt too much.
That is an interesting take on Aeroplane, and Crimson and Clover sounds really pretty. I like this combination.
Perfectly stated.
Anyone notice that “The High Road” kind of sounds like that Everlast song? That kind of ruined Broken Bells for me.
Aww Crimson n Clover not worthy of a posting? Not hipster chic enuff:D ?? Too bad, one of my alltime favs, cant miss with that song…good choice.
I was complelty suprised they played both of these songs, they pulled them off great, but crimson n glover goes in for the win, great cover.
The videos already got taken down:( Any clue where to see them at this point? Maybe a place to download them?
The videos got taken down already:( Any clue where or how to go about finding them now?
A bootleg video recorded at Bootleg Theater, removed by giant conglomeration….Didn’t think Sony owned Neutral Milk Hotels music, last I checked that was NMH. And the copyright is on the song and not the band itself.
Yeah I wish i could watch it. even so, I feel like it’s getting to the point where there should be a moratorium for 10 years or so, where no one can cover “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.” Same goes for “Hallelujah.” Just for the sake of the song, with all these covers I feel like we’re getting oversaturated.
