Paper Bag Records Vs. Ziggy Stardust

Once a year, the roster of the Canadian indie label Paper Bag gets together to cover one complete classic album, with a different label act taking on each one of the album’s songs. Last year, it was Madonna’s True Blue. This year, they’ve all mobbed up to cover David Bowie’s 1972 glam-rock concept-album watershed The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. Born Ruffians, PS I Love You, the Rural Alberta Advantage, the Luyas, and Yamantaka//Sonic Titan all number among the contributors. And the Montreal producer CFCF teamed up with electro-goth wailers Austra to take on Bowie’s song “Soul Love,” transforming it into something wispier and more mysterious. Download the cover below.
