Time, money, emotion are key concepts in “London Soul” singer Ofei’s moving, backbeat soul track “London.” Key concepts punctuated by a refrain: “I want it back now/ Give it back now.” It’s a redemption song, and in light of the hideous inequality exposed by Sandy, damned if they all shouldn’t be redemption songs, even when they’re coming from the other side of an even bigger mass of water. Ofei’s passionate, processed voice — stacked high in harmonies, or cutting and solo as a reedy lead — hits like bricks, over feathery piano chords and strong rhythm section work.
