Rocket From The Crypt To Reunite In 2013?

I think we were all more or less OK with the fact that the world is going to end on 12/21/2012, but now I’m officially ambivalent about it. Because if Rocket From The Crypt is going to reunite in 2013, I want to be there. The news is far from official, but the above image was just posted on RFTC’s Facebook, leading naturally to speculation that they’ll be back in 2K13 barring the apocalypse and/or rapture. This would be the second such recent reunion presided over by John Reis; he also got the great Hot Snakes back together for occasional performances (they performed at FYF Fest in September). If RFTC are reuniting, it’ll be a good one — the San Diego band was an absolutely destructive live force in their time on this Earth, and most of their stellar recorded output still sounds great today. I swear to god I had the song “Ditchdigger,” from 1992′s Circa: Now!, in my head two hours before I heard this news. Now I’m gonna spend the rest of the afternoon listening to them. You should too!

Not entirely surprising, considering they recently got together for the Yo Gabba Gabba! track. Although, I kind of would rather see Drive Like Jehu reunite at this point, too. With METZ kicking that type of post-hardcore back to life this year, i just makes sense. This year kind of tapped out my expectations for hardcore / post-hardcore reunions with seeing Refused, ATDI, American Nighmare, Quicksand and Hot Snakes.

  3. Ditchdigger is always in my head. Amazing song.
