Guy Picciotto & Jeff Mangum

Last night, New York’s Le Poisson Rouge hosted a live-on-the-internet telethon from Strike Debt, an Occupy Wall Street-affiliated nonprofit that’s attempting to relieve regular people’s insane debt burdens. Plenty of musicians showed up to help out: TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, Das Racist’s Kool A.D. But the biggest selling point was probably the ridiculous ’90s-indie dream-team duo of Jeff Mangum, late of Neutral Milk Hotel, and Guy Picciotto, late of Fugazi, actually sitting onstage side-by-side and playing acoustic guitars together. They teamed up to cover the topical “Sign The Dotted Line,” a song from the culty New Zealand punk band Tall Dwarfs, and you can watch the performance below.

Mangum’s reemergence has been great and all, but I would seriously do unspeakable things to see Fugazi one more time.

  1. As someone who considers Neutral Milk Hotel and Fugazi to be the two greatest bands ever…JIZZ!
