Last night, Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard was Conan’s musical guest. He sang “Something’s Rattling (Cowpoke),” a song from his solo album Former Lives, and the Los Angeles mariachi troupe Trio Ellas backed him up. This was a fun, different way of doing the late-night thing, even if it revealed Gibbard to be someone who does not know what to do with his hands when he’s not holding a guitar onstage. Watch it below.
Former Lives is out now on Barsuk.

Whoa, you weren’t lying. Give him a broom or something to hold.
Can’t stop laughing, this comment just made my day!
He’s gonna be doing a short acoustic set at the Strand on 1/9; buy your tix now, they’re going fast.
Ladies and gentlemen… the whitest man in America.
