Deltron 3030 - "Pay The Price"

During the brief moment when the three of them were among the highest-regarded figures on the booming rap underground, rapper Del The Funky Homosapien, producer Dan The Automator, and DJ Kid Koala teamed up to form the supergroup Deltron 3030. Their self-titled debut album was a goofily mind-bending sci-fi concept record, back when “rap” and “sci-fi concept records” generally did not occupy adjacent sectors of the popular imagination. And now, those three guys are reuniting to release the long-awaited follow-up album. The album, entitled Event II, is set to arrive sometime this year, and the first single, “Pay The Price,” is a slick lope that shows no indication that any time has passed since 2000. It’s pretty good! Listen at the group’s Facebook page, and be advised that it’ll only be up there for 24 hours.

  1. Del sounds tired. Regardless, I’m excited.

  2. While the track is pretty decent at best, its existence alone is a positive sign. I’m cautiously optimistic.

  3. OH SNAP, you guys get that Jeru “Can’t Stop the Prophet” reference?

maaaaan, i don’t know what you guys are talking about, this track is trying JUST HARD ENOUGH. del sounds relaxed and lucid, the beat rides with that automator analog swing
