Yo La Tengo - "I'll Be Around" video

Phil Morrison, who directed the movie Junebug, made the video for Yo La Tengo’s minimal-but-aching Fade ballad “I’ll Be Around,” and it’s a weirdly powerful piece of work. It starts out with Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan lip-synching the song in some beautifully-shot verdant woods while text flashes on the screen, and it ends up with a tough-to-figure bit of domestic drama involving Yo La Tengo themselves. It’s really good, and you should watch it below.

Fade is out now on Matador. Also, you should absolutely see Yo La Tengo on this tour. They played Charlottesville last week, doing one set of quiet acoustic songs and one electric set, and pretty much took my face off.

  1. Well, that’ll be a lesson for James McNew.

  2. Dat Georgia ass 3:14

  3. Quiet song gets a quiet video. I like it.

  4. James was finally arrested for that criminally underrated Seinfeld skit the band performed at their Chicago show in ’11.
