Joey Bada$$ - "Underground Airplay" Video

Teenage backpack-rap revivalist hasn’t slowed down one second since bubbling up to national attention about a year ago, and now he’s got a new single called “Underground Airplay” that pairs him up with fellow underground rap journeymen Smoke DZA and Big K.R.I.T. It’s a particular treat to hear K.R.I.T.’s Mississippi drawl over a stark New York-style beat, but all three guys come off. The song’s video, from directors Coodie & Chike, is more or less an Ecko Unlimited commercial disguised to look like a grimy black-and-white rap video. Watch it below.

The track will appear on Ecko Unlimited’s forthcoming Underground Airplay mixtape.

  1. Krit is a lyrical powerhouse in any environment. It always surprises me how little of his verbiage sounds like filler with so much of his work floating around. The trio in and of itself is a strong showing of what the underground has to offer. I am really keeping an eye on Badass though. He’s young and with the knowledge he has been able to conjure, I only hope that doesn’t change when looming longevity and the pitfalls of the game arise.

    Great listen though.

  2. How come Joey has this other guy in his crew? The second lyricist immediately takes the track to vibing to straight gangsta. Joey’s going to fuck around and loose a demographic that is primed and ready for some non-negativity. Ditch this cats Joe and do you man.
