Chelsea Light Moving - Chelsea Light Moving

We’ve already heard four songs from Thurston Moore’s Chelsea Light Moving: “Burroughs,” “Groovy And Linda,” “Empires Of Time,” and “Frank O’Hara Hit.” If you liked those, you’re in luck because today the entire album is streaming online. Check it out at NPR.

The band’s North American tour kicks off next month; dates are below. If you want to see them in a less traditional venue (e.g., your birthday party), make your pitch in the comments of BrooklynVegan. Apparently Thurston has been responding to comments there (“yeh I AM AN AGEING LESBIAN”), as he does here from time to time, and considering offers to play “any birthday party, wedding or hullabaloo in any country, planet or stratosphere that doesn’t support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology.”

  1. Aging lesbian or not, this chugging riff and reference-heavy thing is a good look for Thurston. It’s basically the Psychic Hearts sound with more low end and longer track lengths. So it works, basically. “Alighted,” in particular, is a beast.
