Firefly Festival

The summer-festival news is coming in heavier and heavier lately. Delaware’s Firefly Festival debuted last year, and they’re back again this summer, coming to Dover’s Woodlands Of Dover International Speedway 6/21-23. Festival organizers were probably smart to make this one heavy on big, middlebrow names, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers headlining and festival-bait like Foster The People, the Avett Brothers, Dispatch, Ellie Goulding, and Calvin Harris high up on the bill. But there’s plenty of indie-friendly stuff in there, too, including Vampire Weekend, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit, MGMT, Kendrick Lamar, Grizzly Bear, Matt & Kim, Japandroids, the Walkmen, the Joy Formidable, Toro Y Moi, Dan Deacon, Action Bronson, Foxygen, and Chvrches. Public Enemy’s name appears depressingly low on the bill. But, I mean, getting to see Tom Petty and Kendrick Lamar and Japandroids in the same weekend sounds pretty good. Check out all the details here.

  1. way bigger and better than last year’s lineup. worth the drive from DC?

    • Way worth the drive….Last was awesome. This year looks better. The “undercard” could be better than the headliners on balance. Atlas Genius was awesome live, Japandroids, Zeros, MGMT, Kendrick Lamar…it’s going to be a party! The organizers did a great job last year and learned a lot probably. This year will be awesome!

  2. no black keys?!

  3. What about the band, One Sound Nation?

  4. Oh wait…. Is passion pit going to be there this year?
