James Blake - Overgrown

Overgrown, James Blake’s second proper album, is set to arrive this spring, and the only thing we’ve heard from it is the luminous and mystery-drenched first single “Retrograde.” Judging by what we now know, though, things are about to get steadily more interesting. For instance: Brian Eno helped out on the album track “Digital Lion,” which could lead to a brain-breaking masterpiece or, alternately, to a song that sounds just like a regular James Blake song. Also, RZA lends what promises to be one of his mad-tumble-of-gravelly-words guest spots to “Take A Fall For Me.” Check the tracklist below.

  1. Really looking forward to this. Retrograde showed some real progression on the songwriting front and if the rest of the album follows suit this could be majorly good.

  2. Love the intentionally-bad-taste album cover. Looks like there’s a trend this year, first YYYs, then Flaming Lips, Phoenix (although theirs is not so bad) and now this.. atrocity.

    • You assume it’s intentional bad taste. Maybe it’s actual bad taste. Is the name of the album intentionally bad, also? Yikes!

Regardless of that, can’t wait to hear this. His first album still gets regular spins over here…so good.

  3. April 8th seems so far away :(

  4. So excited

  5. Awful, awful cover art. But beyond excited for this.
