Free Press Summer Fest

Quietly, Houston’s Free Press Summer Fest always seems to cobble together one of the strongest lineups of every summer festival. The festival’s organizer’s just announced this year’s lineup, and it’s just as stacked as ever. The Postal Service and Iggy And The Stooges both serve as headliners, and things get a lot deeper from there. There’s a fair amount of the stuff that’s clogging up a ton of festival bills this summer (Bassnectar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Calvin Harris, Of Monsters And Men), but the list of indie rock names is impressive; it includes Passion Pit, Cat Power, TV On The Radio, Arctic Monkeys, Japandroids, Chairlift, the Men, and Gogol Bordello. Also, Baroness will be back in action, which is awesome news. And this is one festival that always seems to get Southern rap right; this time, they’ve got 2 Chainz, Devin The Dude, and the motherfucking Geto Boys. The show comes to Houston’s Eleanor Tinsley Park 6/1-2, and you’ll find all the info you need here.

  1. Oh sweet, Machine Gun Kelly. Will he be there in support of this year’s Wrestlemania single?

Attention Boston Calling: This is what you call a mid-sized festival with diversity.

  2. Mmmm. Not bad. Kinda makes me want to return to Houston. But then again, not really.

  3. I didn’t notice this when I was writing it up, but: Quad City DJs?!?
