Johnny Marr

A couple of weeks ago, we posted video of the Smiths guitar legend Johnny Marr playing “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now,” one of the many classics he helped to write, for the first time in 25 years. That’s not the only Smiths nugget he’s dusted off lately. At last night’s NME Awards, the Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood joined Marr to play “How Soon Is Now?,” and there are a lot of fascinating things about the performance. For one thing, Wood can’t resist throwing just a few Stonesy blues moves onto the track. For another, Marr replaces Morrissey on lead vocals and handles his business pretty well. Check out a fan-made video below.

Marr’s new solo album The Messenger is out now on Sire/ADA.
