JamesMurphyLawsuit

James Murphy isn’t losing his edge, he’s losing money — a reported $93,899 — by way of his absent business partner and DFA Records co-founder Tim Goldsworthy, who was compensated for unperformed work. On Friday, Murphy filed a lawsuit with the Manhattan Civil Supreme Court for “breach of contract” and “unjust enrichment.” It’s also been reported that Goldsworthy was using DFA’s money for non-business reasons, including improper use of credit cards and cash in their bank account. CoS has pointed to an interview with label manager Johnathan Galkin where he explains that three years ago, Goldsworthy and his family left the country unannounced for London and have not made contact with DFA since. “Attempts to amicably resolve this matter were rebuffed,” according to the lawsuit. It doesn’t look like anyone is going to dance themselves clean of this one.
