Iggy And The Stooges - Ready To Die

Iggy And The Stooges band are, give or take the Rolling Stones, the greatest and most important band who have no need to continue existing (let alone making new music) in 2013, and who persist in doing so nevertheless. The Stooges will release Ready To Die, their follow-up to the deeply unfortunate 2007 reunion album The Weirdness, next month, and they’ve just let us hear first single “Burn.” It’s no “1969,” obviously, but it is an impressive bit of drooling-hammerhead gurgle-stomp rock, and it gets even more powerful if you close your eyes and pretend it’s a new Primal Scream song or something. Listen to it below.

Ready To Die is out 4/30 on Fat Possum.

  1. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, sold the t-shirt. However, it’s good to see that Iggy’s keepin’ the dream alive four years after Ron Asheton’s untimely death.

  2. Eh…I’ll take “My Idea of Fun”.
