Cold Cave

A few weeks ago we got to hear the title track off Cold Cave’s new EP, Oceans With No End. Now the group’s mastermind, Wes Eisold, is letting us hear the B-side to the two-track EP. The nicely named “People Are Poison” is another searing synth blast of gothic dread, albeit a few shades darker than the A-side. The track pounds along with a hypnotic pulse as Eisold moans, “One step over the line and then I’m gone,” until its final moments (right when you’re expecting a fade out) when it abruptly cuts to an eerie recording of slamming metal and falling rain. Listen below, and look for the 7″ EP via Deathwish Inc.

  1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that “slamming metal” was actually just part of the beat. And while it may or may not have been made by actual metal, it wasn’t really an abrupt cut. It felt more like a natural progression from synth + beat to beat to thinner beat and finally to rain.
