The Brooklyn producer Dre Skull started out making spazzy DIY dance music, but he’s since become an unlikely hitmaker in the universe of dancehall reggae. And his new single “First Time” goes a long way toward uniting both of his worlds, with Purity Ring singer Megan James singing a wide-eyed, lovestruck vocal over Dre Skull’s sunny pummel, while Jamaican star Popcaan jumps on to huff his way through a dizzy verse.
