James Blake on Letterman 2013

James Blake is a marvel for his alchemical ability to make dour and skeletal, glum-electro music telegenic, though the real reason to watch any Letterman performance is for David’s response at the end. It brings me great pleasure to say both men play their parts in this vignette admirably. A scene teaser: JB brought “Retrograde” from his new LP Overgrown, and David has never seen some of those instruments before. And, action:

Overgrown is out now on Atlas/Republic.

  1. I quite dig this song (the first of which from Mr. Blake), but um, this performance is just off.

Pretty sure the song is “Retrograde”, not the title track.
