Some of the cocktails on deck in Christopher Laufman, bka Wise Blood’s “Universe Is Blessed” are as follows: a martini with olives on the side, rat poison, turpentine. And while it’s probably best to opt for a ginger ale like Laufman has in the above photo, it’s his propensity for oddity that makes his music work. This curiosity is the second single from his upcoming debut full-length id and it dazzles, as his wild pop experimentations usually do. He cites insular producers like SpaceGhostPurrp and Zomby as inspirations and that’s made clear by how he constructs tracks with conflicting layers that make a polished finished product. Check out the track below. Laufman will be performing at Brooklyn’s Glasslands on 6/25, the same day as id’s release.
